Manitoba Hydro Visits Robertson College

We've had several visits from MB Hydro over the past few years and every time that Polly Bergen comes to visit and talk about the opportunities at MB Hydro students are interested in what she has to say.  Of course, it doesn't hurt that she's a great public speak (a great speaker to try to emulate!), but the main reason is that MB Hydro has so much to offer.
Of course, one of the things that people want to know about most is the Health coverage.  MB Hydro has a great coverage plan that includes:
  • Dental
  • Prescription Drug
  • Vision Care
  • Health Spending Account
  • Travel Health Coverage
  • Other Health Benefits including ambulance and physiotherapy
That is just the beginning of benefits for employees.  They also have excellent work/life balance programs that make it easy for employees to remember that having a life outside of work is a good thing and even encouraged!
The other thing that I think is great about MB Hydro is that they are very interested in seeing their employees build and develop their skills.  They encourage employees to always be learning by offering:
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Educational Leave
  • Professional Development Support
  • Mentorship Program
  • Extensive Internal Training Courses and Certifications
  • External Training Support
...and you know what all that means right?  It means that employees move forwards and upwards at MB Hydro!
If you're interested in a career at MB Hydro check out their career section and register to apply online.

Convert Rows to Columns (or Columns to Rows) in Excel

Have you ever been working on an Excel spreadsheet and realized part way through that you would have been better off putting something in rows, but you'd already gotten half of the data entered in columns?  It happened to me not too long ago.  At first I thought I was going to have to start all over again but then I realized that there is a way to convert columns into rows or rows into columns and it isn't really difficult.  You've like used Paste Special before and not even realized that this is one of the things that you can do with Paste Special.
Here's how:
  1. Select the cells that need to be converted.
  2. Right click and Copy
  3. Right click again, this time where you'd like to insert the info in columns/rows.
  4. Select Paste Special
  5. At the bottom of the box that comes up there's an option called "Transpose" - click this box off
  6. PRESTO!  You got columns where you had rows before or rows where you had columns
Pretty easy huh?  There are so many things you can do with Excel and that why I love using it.  I started learning Excel simply because it was needed for a job that I wanted but once I started using it I was constantly amazed by the things that could be done.  We teach Excel in all of the administrative courses taught at Robertson College so if you need to work on your Office skills come and check out what else we teach.
