Ayodele: Bridging Experience with Local Knowledge

Ayodele Aiyeleye immigrated to Canada less than a year ago and decided to settle in Edmonton to pursue a new career in Finance.  With more than 8 years of experience in Financial Analysis and Investment Management, Ayodele realized he needed to advance his understanding of Accounting as well as his knowledge of the local finance industry in order to progress in his career.  Ayodele chose the Accounting and Payroll Administrator program at Robertson College and credits the program for providing valuable hands-on learning experience and for boosting his confidence to face the local job market.

Why did you choose Robertson College for your education?

I was looking for an institution with a hands-on approach to teaching and commitment to ensuring every student is successful in their career afterwards.  I was also interested in the employment rate statistics of graduates from the institution and the opportunity for a practicum.  Duration was also very important to me, I wanted a one-year program and after adequate research, Robertson College came out as the best choice.

Why did you choose this particular field?

With over 8 years of experience in Finance, especially Financial Analysis and Investment Management, I realized that I needed a more advanced understanding of Accounting and local knowledge of the finance industry.  The Accounting and Payroll program was a perfect fit to bridge and align my previous experience into the Canadian workplace.

Why would you recommend this program others?

This program compresses the basic curriculum for accounting and payroll and offers the opportunity to gain practical experience at a very suitable pace.  In addition to the technical skills acquired, Robertson College focuses on developing soft skills, which are extremely essential for any new immigrant's career progression and success in Canada.
