What can you do with a Legal Assistant Diploma?

The answer is... a lot!  Many Robertson College Legal Assistant graduates go on to work at law firms, legal departments or even the municipal, provincial or federal courts.  What you might not realize is that there are many opportunities for Legal Assistants in non-legal office settings as well!

Legal work can take place outside of legal office settings.  For example, real estate offices and insurance companies might require administrative professionals with knowledge in Real Estate law or Wills & Estates.  Small businesses or private companies might be in need of someone with Corporate and Commercial Law knowledge.

When you are searching for employment, you might also want to consider these roles:
  • Administrative Professionals or Executive Assistants
  • Mortgage Processor
  • Leasing Administrator
  • Grants / Proposal Coordinator
  • Claims / Billing Clerk
  • and more!
As a Legal Assistant, your training and education will have prepared you with a variety of transferable skills that can be applied to many different industries or work settings including clerical skills, ability to conduct research, attention to detail, organizational and time management skills, verbal and written communication skills, just to name a few!
