2016 Year in Review

As 2016 comes to an end, we would like to take a look back at everything we've accomplished over the past 12 months at our campuses.

From new endeavors to new beginnings, we've had the chance to witness tremendous growth in our college and more importantly, in our students.

We're growing

This year saw another major addition to our campus in Winnipeg!  We expanded our Main Street campus to include a new space for our Massage Therapy program on the third floor of our 433 Main Street campus.

In Edmonton, we've opened up a second campus location within the Edmonton City Centre Mall - a convenient location that is easily accessible through public transit.

Early 2017 will see the doors of our second campus in Calgary open for the first time!  The second campus will be in the Chinook area, close to the Chinook Centre Mall and the Macleod Trail.

New Programs Launched

With the demand increasing across the country for Massage Therapists, we were very excited to announce the launch of 2 massage therapy programs at our Calgary campus! The inaugural Massage Therapy and Advanced Massage Therapy diploma programs will start February of 2017.

We also launched a new Business Administration program earlier this year in Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and online. The Business Administration program (known as Business Administration Management in Alberta and online) aims to provide students with a comprehensive look at the different areas within a business.  Upon completion, graduates will be well-positioned to pursue an area of their choosing for their career.

In Edmonton, we launched several new programs including Pharmacy Assistant, Veterinary Office & Technical Assistant, Business Administration Management and Community Support Worker diploma programs.

Activities & Accomplishments

Our Massage Therapy program in Winnipeg continues to grow! We continue to add more outreach events to our calendar with our Massage Therapy students providing complimentary massages at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba Stationary Bike Race and the Ronald McDonald House of Manitoba.

In February, the MT5 Massage Therapy students in Winnipeg received honourable mention on the research they submitted to the Canadian Council of Massage Therapy Schools CCMTS.  Only 3 teams in Canada received this recognition!

We held our first ever Bubble Soccer Tournament in Edmonton this year! Although we might have taken a few tumbles, it was a lot of fun!

We also took the time to recognize the everyday achievements of our students including monthly award ceremonies recognize high scores and full attendance. We always looked forward to getting together and cheering each other on during these ceremonies.

We continue to strive to provide the best career services for all of our students and alumni. This year, we held career fairs at each of our ground campuses and introduced our students to many top employers across the country. We also continued to send our students to top practicum sites to enrich their learning.

Congratulations to all our students who graduated in 2016!  Each year we graduate over 2,000 students across Canada. We are so proud to help them launch careers in their chosen fields!

In the Community

We believe strongly in supporting the communities in which we call home.

In Winnipeg, our campus raised $2350 for the Ronald McDonald House of Manitoba and $1486 for the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba.  Our Calgary campus continue to support the Calgary Food Bank with food drives throughout the year.

Our Edmonton campus held a fundraising BBQ in May in support of Fort McMurray residents who had to evacuate their city due to wildfires. 2 hours + many more for planning, 300 burgers and hot dogs served, $2,090 raised. But being able to help fellow Albertans? Priceless!  The college matched our donation for a final donation count of $4,180.

These are just some of the highlights of 2016 - full of good times and big achievements from our team and our students!

On behalf of all the staff and instructors here at Robertson College, we would like to wish you and your loved ones a very happy holiday season! May 2017 bring you even greater successes.
